RPK Parks Kit vs the Romanian AKM Parts Kit

Sun. Jun 25, 2006
Another parts kit overview this time two Romanian rifles, the AKM (AK47) and RPK go head to head, let's see how they are different

RPK Parks Kit vs the Romanian AKM Parts Kit

One of our sponsors, Arms of America recently gave us the opportunity to review some of their parts kits. Here we review the Romanian RPK parts kit with a Romanian AKM (AK47) Parts Kit. . Both started life as military rifles, each were at some point removed from service and eventually chopped into parts, then shipped to the US and now are being sold by the guys at Arms of America for only $499.99 each for the RPK Parts Kit, call for availability on the AKM Parts Kits

These are two of my personal favorites in the AK47 collectors world. These look cool and are very well made.

Romanian RPK 7.62x39 Parts Kit. In real good condition with wear and minor use marks on the furniture. Barrel is Chrome Lined Romanian AKM 7.62x39 Parts Kit. All matching numbers. This kit was hand picked to use to compare because it is in what looks like unused condition

In all of our pics the Romanian RPK is on top and the Romanian AKM is below. Aside from the obvious difference in stock and size they are close to the same. But there are lots of differences once you get into the details.

The RPK is much larger and more heavy duty than the AKM

Along with large proportions it also is quite a bit longer

The stocks are also shaped differently. The club foot of the RPK stock is designed to be held by the non shooting hand when shooting from the bipod

The larger RPK barrel makes the AKM barrel really look small
